I actually got ideas for diaper cakes from this Web site. I made this diaper cake with a pack of 84 newborn diapers. The bottom layer has 75 diapers the second has 5 and the top has 4.

I wrapped clear elastic around each diaper and then tied them together with blue and yellow ribbon.

The top layer along with a toothbrush set is holding Winnie the Pooh’s head up. The Winnie character’s wrapped around the diapers are the Winnie the Pooh cuddle and snuggle baby gym.

I then added diaper wipes at the back, slippers and mitts in the front.

I placed a hat on Winnie the Pooh’s head and took six face cloths and tied two together and made them into three flowers. Last I added little scrapbook sticker to the cake.

I made this for my girlfriend who is having her first baby, a boy. I know she will love it and I had a lot of fun making it. The cake is sitting on some cardboard that I cut out and wrapped in yellow tissue paper.

To make these diaper cakes I rolled each diaper and used clear rubber bands instead of ribbon to keep them from unrolling. I also used a square box as a guide for my pattern. I think it came out quite nice.

This cake is quite large. Usually I don’t make them this big but this one is completely filled with gifts on the inside. The top tier comes off and filled with gifts. I hope you guys like it.

These are a ducky cake, diaper cakes and a carriage cake I made for my friend’s baby shower.

The diaper cake is just made by rolling up disposable diapers putting a rubber band on them then grouping them in circles and rubber banding the bigger groups. I hid some small gifts in among the diapers and used others to decorate the outside. It’s very easy to make and makes a great gift and centerpiece.

For the duck I used a Wilton’s ducky pan. Once it cooled I gave it a primary coat then covered it with a star tip. I used a grass/hair tip to put it in a field.

The carriage was made using a Wilton Carriage pan. I gave it a primary coat of plain butter cream then did the basket weave on the main portion and then added the other elements to hide my messy basket weave ends.

This is how we made diaper cakes. It was a 4 tier Peter Rabbit theme which contains the following:

1-56 count size 1 pampers, 1-46 count size 2 pampers (larger size on bottom tier), 4-Terry cloth size 0-3 month sleepers, 6-Terry baby wash cloths (rolled like roses & tucked around the rim), 6- Pacifiers, 3-small bath toys, 1-sm bottle, 1-pair of newborn booties, 1-newborn brush & comb set, 1-Large rattle, 1-med bottle baby bath, 1-med bottle, Baby lotion, 1-baby spoon, 12- Large diaper pins, 1- Small Peter Rabbit toy for the top.

I could not find any Peter Rabbit things besides the topper to put on the bottom so I printed pictures and glued them to a card stock band that I wrapped around the bottom layer of diapers. I finished it all off with ribbons.

I rolled the diapers so that the design would show and secured them with a rubber band. In the middle of the bottom two layers I used one bottle of liquid baby soap and in the upper layers I used a candle baby bottle. I used size 2 diapers for the bottom layer; size 1 diapers for the next layer and newborn diapers for the top two layers.

Once the bottom layer was placed around the liquid soap, I used a big rubber band to hold the diapers in place and then placed a large ribbon around the whole layer and secured it with hot glue. I then tied a smaller ribbon around every other diaper. Repeat the same process on the upper layers.

To top the cake I used an “It’s a Boy” baseball candle. I secured the baseball candle by sticking two toothpicks in the bottom of the candle and then placing the toothpicks inside one of the top layer diapers.

My sister likes clean, neat, simple things. A diaper cake with a lot of ribbons, toys, and other gadgets stuffed into the cake just wouldn’t have pleased her as much; so I kept my cake simple.

I used Pampers Swaddlers diapers, size 2 (no rolling up of the diapers involved). I used a large plastic cup and divided the diapers up into 4 groups of 10.

I placed the four sets of ten diapers at “east”, “west”, “north” and “south” locations to the cup.

Then I stuck five diapers at the “northeast”, “northwest”, “southeast” and “southwest” locations.

I cut a large piece of ribbon and tied it around the top half of the diapers – pulling it tight brought them all together in a nice swirl. I had to manually fix a few here and there to make it work just right. Once that was done, I placed the second ribbon around the cake and tied that tight as well.

I repeated the same procedure for the top layer. I then made bows of the same ribbon and fastened them with pins. I found some artificial flowers and used them as the cake topper. I made the whole cake on a table and then slid a charger underneath it.

Next time I create diaper cakes, I plan on adding a third layer.

I made this cake for my niece’s baby shower. I used Huggies size 1 diapers and various ribbon. There are some teethers, rash cream, socks, rattles, and other small items inside.

I individually roll and secure the diapers and then set them into a ribbon ring.
I use cardboard cake circles for each layer as this helps the diapers not to tilt or sink into the layer below. These are just beautiful and much fun to make!

This diaper cake was done for a friend’s baby shower. I took diapers and individually wrapped them with string and then tied them together making 3 sizes for the different tiers.

I wrapped a round circle of cardboard with foil for the bottom. I then used ribbon to wrap around the tiers and hot glued beads and jewels on to the ribbon. I placed 3 pink flowers on top for the cake topper.

I used 30, size 3 diapers for this cake, layered them, used two receiving blankets, some ribbons, little Johnson’s travel pack and a cute little Easter bunny with floppy ears that says baby first Easter on it.

This was my first diaper cake, I loved designing and making it!!

This is another one of my original diaper cakes. This one actually came from a customer of mine that I had made diaper cakes before for her. She emailed me a picture of a bassinet type diaper cake, and wanted to know if I could come up with something more realistic looking than what she found. So, these are what I came up with (hers was the pink and purple combination).

There are about 60 to 80 diapers in these diaper cakes, depending on the size I make. I create 3 sizes, small, med and large. I just roll up the diapers and then used a rectangular shaped cake board and put double-sided tape on it. I then make the bassinet rim part, doing the “mattress” part last.

As the mattress cover, I have used either material, or a baby blanket, and then decorated it with color coordinating flowers and trim. The canopy is tulle, and I either use white tulle, or color coordinating tulle, with the same color ribbon outlining it. A door wreath hanger holds up the canopy and then I have put some horses dangling down as the mobile.

I use large lace around the base of the bassinet to give it that extra touch and look of a bassinet. These diaper cakes have been my most popular on eBay. They have been given as is, or I’ve had some customers put baby items in the bed area of the cake as well. I don’t have pictures of that yet.

I don’t have a website yet, but you can email me if you would like to order, or if you have any questions: duncpac[at]aol.com.

Here is another one of my original diaper cakes. I love making original and unique diaper cakes that you don’t see everyday – one of a kinds; anything you can come up with.
I also make the regular diaper cakes, the 1-2-3-4 tier cakes and cupcakes. But I love the challenge of making my idea come to life, and I LOVE the reaction I get when they are given or seen for the first time.

This is my “Pooh’s Honey Pot” diaper cake. It is a large Honey pot made all out of diapers. I use floral wire and put the already rolled diapers onto it, then put it into a circle, starting very small to larger in the middle and then smaller on top again to give it that honey pot outline., Each layer is held together by more floral wire and double-sided tape. I then use brown material around the cake to give it more of the honey pot look. And the inside is actually hollow, so you can fill it full of more baby items (as you see in my pictures).

What I love about this cake is Winnie the Pooh himself. He is shorter than the pot, so he is trying to “climb in” to get the honey out. I’ve sold this cake on eBay, also sold just the honey pot without the Pooh doll or extra items on eBay, and have given it as a gift for a dear friend of mine.

The reaction was incredible. No one could believe that it was all made out of diapers. If you have any questions about this cake, or would like to order, email me at duncpac[at]aol.com.

I have been making diaper cakes for just a short time, and I absolutely love doing it. But, I am the type that likes to do things different from everyone else. I have created some very unique diaper cakes that you will see nowhere else and have sold all on eBay and around here where I live.

This particular cake is my “Noah’s Ark” diaper cake. There are about 60 to 66 diapers used in it. I shape the boat part first, building it upside down from the top on down, and then doing the little hut on top. There is an actual deck where I have set 2 sets of animals on each end.

Then I just decorated it with Noah’s Ark lace, and off-white ruffle lace around the top of the hut and rim of boat. The blue ruffle ribbon represents the water that the Ark floated in. This diaper cake went immediately on eBay and was a huge hit at their baby shower.

I don’t have a website yet, but you can email me if you would like to order, or if you have any questions: duncpac[at]aol.com.,
