When you think of food and breweries what usually comes to mind? If we had to guess you’re picturing a food truck right now, aren’t you? We get it, we love them too. They just go hand in hand. However when you get to Chatty Monks you’re not going to see any of those.
Because they are producing some of the greatest food you’ll ever have at any brewery…. no, restaurant! We’ll get to the beer in a second, but the next time you come to Chatty Monks please do not come full. You will be missing out on some of the best food you have had…… anywhere!
Check out just a few of their menu items….
• Smoked Jalapeno Popper Dip: House-smoled jalapeños finely diced with bacon chips & garlic folded into a mixture of cream cheese, cheddar cheese and American cheese, then topped with a Parmesan pretzel crust served with a ring of tortilla chips. (We had this….and we need MORE!)
• Chipotle BBQ “Flying Monky” Wings: Juicy, meaty wings smothered in Jim’s slightly sweet, pleasantly spicy & smoky chipotle sauce.
• Hoppy French Friars: Thick, hearty hand-cut potatoes, deep fried in peanut oil, then finished up in true Chatty Monks style with a dusting of flavorful, home-grown hops.
• The “Q” Platter: A huge helping of tender, mouthwatering smoked pulled pork, plain and simple. Served with Jim’s secret BBQ sauce and a side of homemade baked beans and housemade slaw.
• Hoppin’ Fish Tacos: Ingredients changed weekly and always flavorful and just plain ole’ yummy soft shell tacos.
• The Bratwich Amalgamation: Juicy bratwursttopped with sauerkraut cooked in our own beer served on a fresh soft roll.
Mouth watering yet? We thought so. This is just the tip of the iceberg! With over 20 items on the menu, there is something for everyone. Please do yourself a favor and see the menu for yourself.

And would you believe all of that is being done in a kitchen no bigger than yours at home? No…. seriously!
But now let’s move on to what you’re here for…. the beer!
We sat down with one of Chatty Monks founders and owners, Rob. He, along with one of his best friends, are the reason Chatty Monks exist. We asked Rob about how they came up with their name, and it all comes from their love of Belgium style beer and the ironic thought that Monks, who are sworn to silence, talking about how great their beer is! Check out their story here.
However, just because Rob has an affinity for Belgian style beers doesn’t mean that is all you will find on tap. With a rotating selection of nine beers on tap, there is plenty for everyone.
We were lucky enough to try just about everything they had on their tap list. We highly recommend the Pekkochu IPA; a 7.3% IPA hopped intensely & exclusively with pekko hops (experimental hop adha 871). We also enjoyed the Morning Monk; a 9% stout brewed with tons of flaked oats, bittersweet chocolates and some special coffee-kilned malt. And who could forget the Belgain Blonde; a 7.2% golden ale brewed with classic belgian malts and hopped exclusively with east kent golding hops.
But there are so much more! And trust us, each one is as delicious as the next. Check out their tap list for yourself.

And you remember how we told you about the kitchen? The Chatty Monks brew system is even more fascinating. There is something about these guys being able to produce so much flavor without taking up so much room. However they’re opening a new production facility soon, so we will wait to show you the brewery until the new location is up and running. But let’s just say these guys are producing A+ beer out of a system a step above a homebrewer’s…..and we are amazed!
What really sets Chatty Monks apart is the location. This is the kind of brewery that you can enjoy a pint after a hard days work or bring your family and friends for a fun night out and a full meal. With two stories there is plenty of room to get a seat, grab a delicious craft beer and enjoy a meal that will leave you wanting more.
When you walk right in you will feel at home.
Can’t find a seat on the first floor? Make sure you head on up to the Abbey.
We highly recommend you get to Chatty Monks. We have heard great things about this location and after a visit with Rob it was clear to see why so many people are pouring into the doors. With a second to none food menu and craft beer that fits all styles, you are bound to enjoy yourself every time you stop in.
