Prismatic has been fully unleashed in Destiny 2 with the release of Exotic Class Items, and everyone has been trying to come up with the best build possible for their class. Here is the best Hunter build you can use, with some freedom to make your own choices.

Best Prismatic Hunter Build

For our Prismatic Hunter build, we are taking a page out of the Arcstrider's book and focusing on using our fists with Combination Blow to take down our enemies.

Exotics

The best two Exotics for this build are Liar's Handshake or a well-rolled Relativism. If you have an Exotic Class Item with Spirit of Caliban and Spirit of the Liar, this will take the build to another level, but the base Liar's Handshake Exotic Arms is enough.

Your Exotic Weapon is Tractor Cannon. However, Tractor can be replaced with almost any exotic in the game, as your melee attacks are doing the heavy lifting with this build.

Abilities

Golden Gun is recommended as it is one of the highest burst damage Supers in the game, and if you can swap to Celestial Nighthawk when casting it, the damage of Golden Gun jumps significantly.

The pairing of Gambler's Dodge and Combination Blow is the bread and butter of this build. A kill with Combination Blow will refund your Gambler's Dodge, and dodging near an enemy will refund your Combination Blow. This all happens while your melee damage increases, thanks to the stacking damage from your melee ability.

Thanks to its versatility, Duskfield Grenade is the best pick for the Grenade slot. It not only can help us activate Facet of Courage for bonus damage, but it can also lock up enemies from afar, making it safer to close the gap on them for a high-damage melee.

Aspects

For your Aspects, Stylish Executioner and Winter's Shroud is a brilliant combo. Stylish Executioner has been changed to work with any elemental debuff. This means that the Slow effect from Winter's Shroud will serve as an activation condition for Stylish Executioner, making the build loop together flawlessly.

Alternatively, some may prefer to go for Threaded Specter for the added damage from Threadlings, as well as the defensive applications of summoning an army of decoys. However, Stylish Executioner is much easier and safer thanks to the true invisibility provided. Stylish Executioner also provides a melee damage buff when exiting invisibility, boosting the damage of this build even further.

Fragments

The suggested Fragments for this build are as follows:

  • Facet of Blessing provides an extra layer of survivability thanks to the health-regenerating properties of this Fragment. This is especially handy when using Relativism, as this doesn't come with the natural healing from Cross-Counter.
  • Facet of Purpose is excellent as it grants us Restoration when we pick up an Orb of Power, which we will be generating a ton of thanks to our mod selections.
  • Facet of Protection is a no-brainer with this build. We will almost always be surrounded by enemies, meaning we can take constant advantage of the damage resistance provided by this Fragment.
  • Facet of Dawn grants you Radiant on a powered melee hit and Radiant to nearby allies on a powered melee kill. This constant 25% weapon damage buff is great and helps your teammates out massively.
  • Facet of Courage is perfect to round out this build. We have opted for a lot of survivability here, so choosing Facet of Courage to help boost our damage is absolutely necessary for this build.

Weapons

As discussed, weapons do not play much of a factor with this build. However, if you want, a One-Two Punch Shotgun is a solid addition. However, it isn't necessary as this perk has reduced effectiveness when combined with Liar's Handshake.

Tractor Cannon is a solid Exotic to pair with this build, as it provides a 30% debuff to the target, allowing your melees to deal even more damage. Tractor will also suppress the enemy, making it much safer to engage them in close-quarter combat.

Armor Mods

The following mods are necessary for this build to function properly:

  • Helmet: Hands-On and Dynamo
  • Arms: 2x Heavy Handed and Impact Induction
  • Chest: Melee Resistance and other resistances matching your enemy's damage type.
  • Legs: Innervation, Absolution, and a Void Scavenger Mod
  • Cloak: Powerful Attraction, Bomber, and Special Finisher

Using Hands-On and Dynamo together massively boosts Super generation as almost all your kills are with your Melee ability, and you have to dodge near enemies to refund Combination Blow, meaning you will always be activating these two mods.

Stacking two copies of Heavy Handed drops your Orb of Power cooldown to 5 seconds rather than 10. While this can drop to 1 second with three copies, Impact Induction will help your Duskfield Grenade timer and allow you to have all your abilities up much more often.

Melee Resistance will always be activated as you are point blank with every single enemy you fight with this build, meaning this mod is always in effect. Matching your other resistance mods to your enemy's general damage type will also help your general survivability.

Innervation and Absolution both work in tandem with Heavy Handed's Orb of Power generation. By picking up the Orbs made from this mod, you will not only be gaining Super energy but also even more Grenade Energy from both Innervation and Absolution. Adding in a Void Scavenger mod for Tractor Cannon ammo is also great.

Powerful Attraction makes Orb of Power collection much simpler as you are always dodging, meaning you are guaranteed to collect the Orbs made from your powered melee attacks all the time. Bomber is also always active with this build as you are constantly dodging, thanks to Combination Blow refunding your dodge. Special Finisher is great as you will almost always have three stacks of Armor Charge, meaning you can quickly make some Special Ammo for yourself and your fireteam.
