Year-round growth opportunities with UnitedHealthcare C-SNP offerings

At UnitedHealthcare, they understand there’s not always a one-size fits all approach to support someone’s overall health. That’s why Chronic Special Needs Plans (C-SNP) can be a great option to cater to the specific health and wellness needs of eligible members or consumers. C-SNPs also provide a year-round opportunity to grow your book of business outside the traditional selling periods and may include extra benefits like our Over-The-Counter (OTC) & Healthy Food benefit. But before selling a UnitedHealthcare C-SNP, there are some things you should know:

  • Plans are designed for consumers with diabetes, cardiovascular disease and/or chronic heart failure and include benefits and services tailored to help support those qualifying condition(s)
  • There is year-round enrollment opportunity with a special election period (SEP) for qualified consumers not currently enrolled in a C-SNP or who wish to move to a C-SNP that focuses on a different qualifying condition than their current plan
  • Plans are designed to provide affordable access to care, including lower Specialist copays on average compared with our non-SNP offerings to help eligible members manage their chronic conditions
  • Most plans also include our OTC & Healthy Foods benefit with thousands of covered healthy foods like fruits and vegetables, meat, seafood, dairy products, bread, cereals and OTC health & wellness products
  • Plans have a unique formulary with lower tiering for select drugs common to treating C-SNP eligible conditions, diabetic supplies on Tier 2 vs. Tier 3 and insulin copays for $25 or less
  • As with all UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plans, members can access $0 copays on Tier 1 and 2 drugs when using Optum Home Delivery, which includes diabetic supplies on our C-SNPs

To find out what C-SNP offerings are available in your area, please visit the Medicare Product Portal (Jarvis > Knowledge Center > Medicare Product Portal). And don’t miss one of UnitedHealthcare's live training sessions to learn more about the UnitedHealthcare C-SNP offerings and how you can help consumers find the right plan. Asuccessful UCard®Member Week

UnitedHealthcare UCard® Member Week, which ran from April 1-5, reached more members than ever before and helped them find value from their plan through unique event offers! In fact:

  • Participating seniors spent twice as much on OTC and Healthy Foods for Walgreens Senior Day as part of UnitedHealthcare UCard Member Week compared to the next largest Senior Day. Consumers 55+ can continue to take advantage of the 20% Walgreens Senior Day discount on the first Tuesday of each month throughout 2024, so make sure members are aware this offer will continue to exist.
  • The collaboration with the National Park Foundation (NPF) attracted over 151,000 total NPF website visits and was the most visited landing page from March 14 – April 24 (even throughout a busy National Park Week) and the 6th most visited page on nationalparks.org in the past year.
  • 490,000+ members completed 10 days of activity to earn their ‘Get Moving Reward,’ which requires 10 days of activity for a month of 30 minutes per day.

This increased engagement shows members are excited about participating in what UnitedHealthcare UCard® Member Week has to offer. As an agent, this is a great opportunity for you to highlight some of the unique ways members can engage with their UnitedHealthcare plan. UnitedHealthcare will have another Member Week in September – watch for more information soon.

A few important call outs:

Did you know that there is a blackout period between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31 when External Distribution Channel (EDC) agents cannot make changes to their upline? That means an Intent to Move form must be submitted by May 31 to meet the 90-day waiting period before the Sept. 1 cutoff. Check out the Agent Guide to learn more.

And be sure to read the updates to the Monitoring Programs section and the Agent Complaint Process section. Recent changes are in red. Access the Agent Guide to learn more on Jarvis > Knowledge Center > Agent Guide.
